The nature of natural vegetable tanned leathers lends itself to being decorated with stamping and carving (sometimes referred to as tooling).

Evenly dampening the leather, the hard metal of the tool base is hit to stamp an individual motif or from a series of specially designed tools that will make up an image or design. The use of special swivel knives allow for the leather to be cut along design lines and then carved using combinations of other tools.

Stamping designs are available as individual designs or letters and numbers referred to as 3d stamps that can be easily interchanged and added to a single handle.

Craftools are made in one piece and give a pattern that can be made up with several hits for intricate designs and borders.
