Unique UK Heritage Leathers

We are pleased to offer a unique collection of UK made heritage leathers.

These leathers all come of UK farm stock, and have been tanned in England using traditional processes including pit liming and tanning.

They have been tanned by simple methods eliminating extra processes such as dye evening agents, making them ideal for re-enactment, bushcraft, TV and Film costume and more.

They are large pieces and due to the nature of this offering the sizes can vary, measurements given will give you the minimum area, many have characteristic markings such as growth patterns, and tannery marks that are typical of traditional tanning. The thickness vary and we have divided them into 3 grades - lightweight (approx1.5-2mm), medium weight (approx 2-2.5mm) and heavyweight 3mm or above.

From small to larger pieces, this amazing leather is made from the specialised area of the horse known as the shell. It has a lovely buttery feel and is highly prized world wide as a luxury high end prestige leather.

Thickness - approx 1.5mm, Colours - Browns, Black

USES: watch straps, woggles, archery tabs, wallets, card cases, pouches, tool sheaths, catapults.

Authentic, heritage tanned leathers in their most natural form, available in assorted thickness, can be dyed, stamped and tooled, and wet formed.

Thickness - lightweight (approx1.5-2mm), medium weight (approx 2-2.5mm) and heavyweight 3mm or above.

Approx minimum size 110cm x 70cm - 44" x 27"

USES: knife and axe sheaths, utility belts, satchels, bags, footwear, bowls, tankards, armour, scabbards 

This leather has been coloured by traditional dye methods. It is leather in it's simplest form, and is ideal for most purposes. It has a mellow look and with the application of a simple wax finish has a very desirable characteristic appeal.

Thickness - lightweight (approx1.5-2mm), medium weight (approx 2-2.5mm)

Colours: Light Mahogany, Browns, Black

Approx minimum size 110cm x 45cm - 45" x 24"

USES: knife sheaths, bowls and dishes, armour, breastplates, re-enactment, cos-play, arm-guards, belts, straps, satchels, bag making

These dyed and coloured vegetable tanned leathers have a waxy top surface typical of English Bridle type leather. They are available in backs which give good length for longer belts harnesses.

Thickness - lightweight (approx1.5-2mm), medium weight (approx 2-2.5mm) and heavyweight 3mm or above.

Approx minimum size 130cm x 60cm - 48" x 24"

Colours: Browns, Black, Tan, Blue, Green

USES: belts, straps, leads, collars, tack, bag making, tool covers, knife sheaths
