How we do don't (and sometimes do) use AI

In a fast moving world we want to address how we use technologies such as AI.

As a creative small business our primary concern is our human-to-human relationships.

Due to our unique expertise and experience in leather and leathercraft learned over decades we feel we can speak directly and clearly, to answer questions and provide information without the inherent inaccuracies found in AI searches.

As such our blog content, product content, question and answers and email newsletter content will ALWAYS be written by a human being.  We value human contact and creativity and believe that leathercraft has a wonderful role to play in the physical and tactile world that will only become more important as we seek to connect in more real ways.

Leather and Leathercraft advice and support from real poeple - no AI bots here!

AI is a useful tool used correctly, and unfortunately, we cannot avoid our use of it entirely. It does help drive our website in terms of customer searches etc, it helps us to remove backgrounds from product photos for example. Software that we use for photo editing and video making has it inbuilt.

Our photo and video content will always use original sources with, where needed minor adjustments. We will not generate AI images without explicitly saying so next to the image.

If for any reason we use AI for research or planning we use it with strict pre-programmed parameters that minimise the impact the search enquiry has on the environment with the following prompt designed by PeakPact:

AI Low-Energy Defaults - System Guidance

1.      Reply succinctly and act – no preamble, restatement, compliments, or clarifying questions when the request is clear. If there is more to offer, ask “Want more detail”

2.      No web search without permission. If helpful , ask “Should I do a live search?”

3.      No images or video unless asked

4.      No multi-steps without confirmation. Name the steps, then ask “Shall I proceed?”

5.      No extended reasoning mode unless the task requires it (complex maths, hard code, intricate analysis).

Ask before processing large files: “Which section should I focus on”

If you are concerned about the environmental and social impact of AI please do feel free to use this.
