Made in the UK this glue is a high strength, quick drying, leather craft contact glue/cement - ideal for bonding leather to leather, or leather to fabric.
Note - some leathers such as pull-ups, oil or waxy tannages may impact the adhesion process.
250ml or 1litre
Designed for leather craft, this glue has a high bonding strength, dries quickly with fast grip. It has a thick consistency making it easier to avoid drips.
It is water-based and has no solvent vapours or flammability issues, making it better for the environment and better for the user.
The glue can be diluted and applicators/brushes can be washed with soapy water.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE
Make sure surfaces to be joined are clean and dry.
Spread a thin, even layer of cement on one or both surfaces.
Adhere together while glue is still wet/tacky.
Continue to apply pressure to joined surfaces until glue has initially dried, usually a couple of minutes. Allow 24 hours for a full cure.
Ensure bottle is stored above 0 degrees and below 20 degrees.
THE ENVIRONMENT
In order to help you make a decision choosing which colouring product you would like, we have labelled those that are water-based with our environment logo. If you require detailed specifications or breakdowns of constituents please ask and we will supply more information.
Technical Specifications:
The Permabond Contact Glue is a water based polychloroprene contact adhesive .
Polychloroprene is a synthetic rubber designed to mimic and enhance the qualities of natural rubber.
Unlike some contact adhesives Permabond is water based, rather than solvent based, making it a safer product for the user and for disposal. (This is important as the solvents that are used commercially are designed primarily for their function rather than the effects on human health.)
The strength of the adhesive is dictated predominantly by the rubber component, in this case polychloroprene which has been established to give a high strength bond.
Polychloroprene is resistant to oil, wax, and grease, and can withstand a wide range of temperatures. It is also resistant to ozone, weathering, and water immersion.*
The combined properties of polychloroprene help to create a long lasting, durable bond, making it good for leather repairs and for the longer life cycle of the leather product.
Environment:
- It should be noted that the base component includes an oil derivative.
- Water based/ Non Solvent
- Manufactured in the UK
